BREAKING NEWS: Young & Restless’ Victor Is Blowing a Golden Opportunity… for Which Nikki Should Be *Very* Grateful
OK, so The Young and the Restless’ Audra kinda brought her firing on herself by revealing to Nate that Victor is Glissade’s mystery investor. But if the Black Knight was thinking not just ruthlessly but strategically, no way would he have cast Audra aside. Instead, he’d see in her a potential Mini-Me, a kindred spirit who has had to work her butt off to get where she is and is willing to do anything to reach the next level.
Isn’t that Victor’s whole origin story? Self-made millionaire and all that.
Victor should now come down with a bad case of second thoughts and realize that big whoop, Audra made a mistake. It isn’t like he never has. (Or doesn’t he regret feeding Michael Scott rats and putting a Jack Abbott doppelganger in Phyllis’ bed?) Victor should go to Audra. Scold her, sure. Make sure she knows that the horns are what she’ll get if she messes with a bull. But then he should extend to her an opportunity
Victor should offer Audra seed money to start her own company and make of it what she will. He’ll mentor and guide her every step of the way, insofar as she needs any direction. His reason? He sees himself in her and is paying it forward, much the same way that Katherine Chancellor did when she supported him back in the day.
Of course, The Young and the Restless isn’t likely to play this twist. It would much prefer to keep rotating CEOs from one corner office to the next and pretend that it plays to viewers like anything but white noise. (“Money, money, money, power, power, power, blah, blah, blah.”) At least one person should be glad about that: Nikki.
The Newmans are happily hitched these days, but let’s be real. Victor never met a pretty face that wouldn’t turn his head. And if he came to see Audra as more than just a pawn on the chessboard to be moved around, Nikki might wake up one day to find that her husband’s pet project has become his passion project.
