And just like that, things have taken a dark turn for The Young and the Restless‘ Sharon. And that’s saying something about a woman who’s been seeing the ghost of her psychopathic, very much dead tormentor, Cameron for weeks now! We figured someone would stop her from actually poisoning Daniel, but what we hadn’t counted on was that the person who did would end up dead, instead! And yet it looks like that’s exactly what happened to poor Heather. (Check out our recap of today’s episode to find out just how Heather’s death went down.)
We’re having a tough time figuring out a way out of this for Sharon. When Sharon Case talked to Soaps.com for her anniversary, she admitted there’s always the constant worry about getting fired. “They wouldn’t get rid of Sharon,” we thought then!
Now, we’re a whole lot less certain. If Sharon killed Heather, jail seems inevitable. Even if she claims mental incompetence, there’s no way she’d get out of being sent off to a high security mental institution seeing as how she’s dangerous and homicidal in her mental state.
There are a few outs for Sharon, of course. She blacked out when the killing actually happened, which means anything could have happened to Heather. Maybe she fell. Maybe it was an accident. Maybe someone else did the deed. Maybe the ghost of Cameron possessed Sharon’s body and killed Heather. (OK, that one seems like a bit of a stretch.) The point is, while it doesn’t look good for Sharon, she may not have killed Heather in cold blood — if at all!
Then there’s the possibility that this is all one, big, elaborate delusion designed to showcase just how unstable Sharon has become without her actually resorting to murder. But if she did, indeed, kill Heather, there’s still the insanity plea. Plus, she’s got role models to turn to. Nikki killed Diane in a drunken blackout and that all worked out fine. Not only did she get off for the murder, Diane turned up alive and well years later!
As of right now, though, we truly have no idea what’s coming next. About all we do know is that Sharon is in some serious trouble.
