Young & Restless Is Creating Its Next Sheila Carter Right In Front of Our Eyes
Be afraid… be very afraid. While The Young and the Restless has all eyes on Sharon as she spins further and further out of control, a truly delusional new antagonist may be developing right under our noses. Yeah, we’re looking at you, Lucy Romalotti.
At first, we felt sorry for Daniel and Heather’s daughter. She was as taken with sophisticated older girl Faith as Faith was disinterested in her. We even understood why she’d be reluctant to take the hint and back off. (Hey, we were young once, too.)
Now, though, having heard the way Lucy insisted to Daniel that she and Faith are practically besties and twisted the narrative to lay the blame for her situation at her father’s feet, we’re thinking that what we are really watching is the birth of a new villainess. And who else do we know with a gift for never taking responsibility for her actions, no matter how much damage she does?
That’s right — Lucy’s biological grandma, Sheila Carter. Sure, she’s over on The Bold and the Beautiful now, slinging pizza like a Flo Castleberry without the sass. But let’s not forget that the former Young & Restless psycho spent decades trying to murder half the characters who obstructed her loco plots and still somehow managed to believe that it was their fault.
Heck, Sheila even proclaimed that she was innocent in the shooting of her own son because she hadn’t been trying to hurt him, she’d been trying to murder his wife in cold blood! That’s some warped reasoning right there, wouldn’t you agree?
If the rotten apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, Lucy could be headed down the same path. In fact, given how misunderstood she feels by Daniel and Heather, we wouldn’t put it past the teenager to start digging into her roots. Since her parents refuse to see things from Lucy’s twisted POV, she could run away to L.A. to get to know Grandma, thinking, “Maybe she’ll ‘get’ me.”
And if Lucy wound up in Sheila’s clutches, Lord! Can you imagine how messed up the kid would become? It’d be a horrific case of nature and nurture converging to create a JV wrecking ball for the ages. What do you think? Is something “off” about Lucy, or is she just a typically self-absorbed teenager?
