And suddenly, we don’t just feel like we’re working for peanuts but mere peanut shells. Young & Restless alum Alyvia Alyn Lind is raking in $75K an episode for Season 1 of Netflix’s upcoming Wayward, TMZ reports. Since her contract calls for her to appear in at least seven of the eight episodes, that translates to [does the math] more than half a million bucks.
The series, created by Canadian comedian Mae Martin and starring her and Toni Collette, explores the dark underbelly of the troubled teen industry in a town that is far more sinister than it appears on the surface. If the thriller is picked up for Season 2, Lind is guaranteed a five-percent raise.
The windfall stands in stark contrast to daytime salaries, which have famously shrunk along with our soaps’ overall budgets. (See also: Young & Restless’ el-cheapo green screens.) But it continues the up, up and away career trajectory that the rising star has been navigating since even before giving up playing Nick and Sharon Newman’s daughter Faith in 2021. (Reylynn Caster took over the role.)
You’ll recall that while recurring on the daytime drama, multi-tasker Lind guest-starred on everything from Transparent to 9-1-1 and played a young Dolly Parton in Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love. Since 2021, she’s also starred in Chucky, which continues the reign of terror of the killer doll from the 1980s cult-classic movie Child’s Play.
