Adam greets Chelsea and Connor at Crimson Lights and tells his son how great it is to see him back there. Connor says it was weird sleeping in his own room again. He kept waking up expecting to be at the facility and would panic. Chelsea and Adam encourage him to tell him how they’re feeling. Connor says the panic triggered his OCD.

Adam and Chelsea are ready to call his doctors, but Connor stops them. The OCD didn’t really come back. He recognized the signs, and reminded himself that he didn’t have to give in to it. It was a pretty big deal for him. Chelsea and Adam are amazed with his progress. They will work on not over-reacting. Adam asks if Connor had a good night at home at the beginning. Connor says it was really good. They send him inside to get a treat, and Adam asks if Chelsea got any sleep. She admits she was on high alert, but is upset she missed the signs. Adam thinks they have to let him work through it. Chelsea asks what if he can’t next time?

Chelsea says it’s hard not to think the worst. Adam says his night was a lot like hers… he kept expecting a call or text that something bad had happened. When the sun came up and he hadn’t heard from her, he felt he could breathe again. Chelsea says that even though she hated him being at the facility he was safe there. They feel like they’ve just brought home a newborn baby. Chelsea pauses and asks, “Are we ready for this, Adam? Can we do it?” Adam says they have to, “We’re his parents.” They agree they can’t let Connor see that they’re scared. They’ll keep pushing forward. They hold hands as Adam says, “One day at a time.”

Billy walks into Lily’s office and thanks her for meeting him. She asks about his plan to fix this. Billy says it’s a solution to the problems she brought up. Before he says anything, he wants to know if what he said changed her mind in any way, or is she still asking him to walk away from Abbott-Chancellor?

Lily hasn’t changed her mind and still thinks he should be removed from a prominent position. He finds this unfortunate, but thanks her for being honest. Lily didn’t think through all of the implications when she agreed to partner with him. She doesn’t know what Victor has in mind, but she can’t risk the future of the company on the chance he’ll come after Billy. She’s not doubting his talent or intelligence, but he brings a lot of baggage, which is causing trouble they don’t need. Billy tells her this was his dream. When she told him he would have to walk away, it pissed him off. He wondered why he should walk away when he has his mother’s power. He could just as easily ask her to walk away. Lily gawps, “You want to get rid of me?!”

Billy says he was angry with her last night because he thought they were in this together and she pulled the rug out from under him. Lily warns she’ll fight him on this. Billy says she won’t have to… he admits he’s a liability. He knows Victor wants to come after them because he sees him being there as a personal affront to Katherine’s memory. Lily’s surprised. Billy asks if she’s surprised he can take responsibility? She can believe him or not. Lily asks where that leaves them. Billy’s not going to walk away from his dream, his mother’s company, or the family’s legacy. If they’re going to reach their potential, Lily needs to be there. Lily asks where that leaves them. Billy says he’ll be somewhere he’s never been before… behind the scenes as a silent partner. If he’s not the face of the company, Victor may not come after them. “I will do what you ask. I will go behind the curtain.”

Claire arrives at the Abbott mansion and is relieved when Kyle tells her Harrison is better and that the doctor thinks it was food poisoning. Claire brought him chicken soup. Kyle says, “You really care about him, don’t you?” Claire’s sorry he had to cancel his business trip. Summer appears as Kyle says he shouldn’t have left in the first place. This wouldn’t have happened if he’d stayed or been allowed to take him with him. Summer crosses her arms, “So, you’re saying this is all my fault?”

Summer complains about Kyle badmouthing her and making himself out to be the hero to her evil stepmom. Kyle snaps that she took him to a new restaurant. She asks if that makes her a bad parent. He admits that it doesn’t, but warns that she won’t be able to sweet talk a judge into giving her custody. “He belongs with me!” Kyle shouts.

Claire asks if she can go upstairs to see Harrison. Kyle and Summer both agree. Summer then taunts Kyle about calling Claire. Kyle thought he should give her a heads-up; Harrison adores her. Summer wanted to spend time with her son. She denies being jealous of Claire, but questions Kyle needing to call the nanny for help constantly. Kyle’s sick of her coming after him. Summer scoffs at the idea he’s a victim. Kyle says he’s finished with this dance they’re doing. He’s calling his lawyer to accelerate the custody hearing. “I want this over with.”

Kyle texts his lawyer as Summer asks, “Are you threatening me?” Kyle just wants this behind them. He fully expects to win. Summer feels the same way. Claire reappears and wants to take Harrison to the park this afternoon. Kyle okays it. Summer thinks fresh air is a great idea. She learns that Claire made him chicken soup and tells him she appreciates him taking such good care of him. Claire asks Kyle if he’ll be leaving to meet Audra in Paris now. Kyle says, “Change of plans.” He turns to Summer and smirks, “I’m not going anywhere.”

At Chancellor, Billy explains he is going behind the curtain to quiet the noise. Lily asks if he’d be behind the scenes forever. Billy says once the company becomes unstoppable he can step out and they can take a victor lap. She asks when that will be. He doesn’t know and suggests she take the victor lap. Victor won’t come after her the same way he’d come after him. Lily asks how they’ll publicly announce that she’s the face of the company without making him seem weak.

At Crimson Lights, Chelsea asks Adam how it was being home with Sally. Adam says that’s a whole other story. She’s been thoughtful and loving and he’s been preoccupied with Connor and everything else. “I wasn’t there for her. I forgot the one-year anniversary of losing Ava.” Chelsea gasps, “Oh, Adam, no.” Adam feels terrible. Sally didn’t call him because she didn’t want to burden him with her pain while he was going through everything with Connor. He says she doesn’t even know the half of it. He feels incredibly guilty. Adam asks if she’s spoken to Billy. Chelsea hasn’t seen him, but he’s definitely still suspicious. Connor appears and asks, “Who’s suspicious, mom? About what?”

Chelsea lies that she was talking about a work situation. Connor buys it and says he ran into a kid he went to Walnut Grove with, who asked where he’d been. He lied that he’d been away visiting family because he didn’t want to be the weird kid. They tease him about not sharing his brownie and then Connor says he’s tired and wants to go upstairs. Adam says he’ll call them later and hugs his son. Connor is happy to be home, “It feels like we’re a family again.”

At Chancellor, Billy’s been thinking about how they can spin him taking a back seat at the company. They can say that the fantastic CEO, Lily Winters, will resume her role at the new company. Lily warns that Victor will come after her wanting to know what’s going on. Billy has a cover story, but it involves Jill, and his mother will have to sign off on it. “We go public with her condition. It would make sense that I would step away from the company to take care of my mother.”

Lily’s sure Jill will never go for that. Billy concedes that she’ll hate it, but she’ll hate the idea of them butting heads even more. She also won’t like Victor sniffing around and thinking about coming after them. Billy wants to see this place succeed, so they will go public with his mother’s condition, keep it vague, and say she’ll make a full recovery. But it makes sense he’d step away to be with her. Lily’s still unsure. Billy says Jill wouldn’t have put him in this position if she didn’t trust him. Now, he needs to know where Lily stands. Lily suggests he speak to his mother, see how she reacts, and in the meantime, she’ll come up with some alternative cover stories in case. Billy’s sure his plan will work.

At the Abbott mansion, Claire thought Kyle’s business trip was important. So did Summer, so much so that he wanted to drag Harrison halfway across the world. “Are you willing to admit now that it was a bad idea?” Kyle’s not admitting anything. He thinks this situation warrants him staying home. Summer says it was a stomachache. Kyle got the distinct impression that she was trying to take advantage of his absence. Her hostility toward him right now is off the charts. “I know who you are, and I also know who your mother is.” Summer thinks he’ll lose if he compares mothers. Kyle complains she didn’t return any of his calls yesterday when he wanted to talk to Harrison. “I don’t trust you, Summer. Plain and simple. That’s why I came home. That’s why I’m staying.”
Kyle Summer Y&R

Summer accuses Kyle of making this bigger and uglier than necessary. Kyle’s just there to be Harrison’s dad. Summer has to get to work and will be back to check on Harrison later. “Claire, keep a close eye on him please.” Claire replies, “Of course.” Summer leaves and Kyle apologizes to Claire for getting stuck in the middle. Claire tells him that for Harrison’s sake, the two of them need to dial it down a lot more. Kyle doesn’t think Summer will listen. He warns the next few weeks will be hard. If she thinks what she saw now was bad, well, he’s not proud of it, but it’s going to get a lot worse. He’ll need her help more than ever.

Claire reminds him she doesn’t feel comfortable spying on Summer. Kyle isn’t asking her to do that. He doesn’t like the way he’s been with Summer; he’s let his frustration and anger get the better of him. All he’s asking her to do is what she’s already been doing. Reminding him to keep his voice down or give him a look. Claire understands; this must be hard for both of them. She imagines they didn’t start out hating each other. Kyle says, “No, we did not.” She suggests he remind himself of that when the anger comes on. Kyle may still need her to give him a stink eye now and then. Claire will do anything to protect that little boy.

At the Club, Summer calls her lawyer and tells him Kyle is determined to move up the custody hearing. She’s scared.

At Crimson Lights, Billy runs into Adam and asks how Chelsea and Connor are doing. Adam says they’re fine, but they had a rough night. He’d prefer if he didn’t go upstairs to see them. Billy tells him that if Adam doesn’t mind, he’ll take Chelsea’s lead on this. Adam doesn’t want him continuing the cross-examination. Billy says he’s onto something or why would he care. “Something happened. Chelsea’s so upset that she doesn’t want to talk to me about it. It’s more than you just getting angry and saying hurtful words. You standing here warning me, it lights it all up in neon. I’m going to find out what happened. You can count on that.” With that, he walks out.
