If you were paying close attention to the latest episode of Young & Restless, you might have gotten the feeling that a new couple was being chem-tested. In fact, you probably noticed even if you weren’t paying close attention because it was quite obvious. Yep, right under our noses, just like that, a new pairing was put into play.
It’s not like they’ve never shared scenes before. Considering their significant others are exes and have been fielding a crisis involving their only child, the supportive partners have crossed paths to discuss the situation at hand. But now, twists and turns have put them into each other’s orbit on a deeper level… and it’s nothing compared to what’s coming.
If you haven’t already guessed, we’re talking about Billy and Sally, who were barely on nodding terms before Adam and Chelsea began spending scads of time together dealing with Connor’s OCD diagnosis. With the boy and his parents often out-of-state, their loves have been left to fend for themselves for extended periods of time, and began to not only cross paths more regularly, but also to compare notes.
Of course, the audience knows that Adam and Chelsea cheated during a drunken one-night-stand in Baltimore and they’re covering it up. The thing is, they’re not doing a great job at keeping their secret under wraps as both Billy and Sally began to sense something was “off” with their respective partners ever since they returned from the trip in question.
An attempted grilling of the duo in Crimson Lights, rather than allay their fears, made things worse, as Chelsea blurted that she wanted to put the “fear and guilt in the past.” Considering she was already failing at keeping a poker face with her gambling addict lover, this simply set off more alarm bells.
With Adam and Chelsea back in Baltimore to pick up Connor and bring him home, there’s a whole lotta trouble brewing. Not only will Connor have a devastating setback when the cheating scandal explodes, but Billy and Sally have bonded on a deeper level in the meantime.
Billy was there for Sally, who was grieving the one-year anniversary of the death of her and Adam’s baby, Ava. Having experienced the devastating loss of his little girl, Delia, the Abbott knew exactly how to relate to the pain she was experiencing. Not only did this put their relationship on another level, but Billy held Sally in his arms to comfort her. That’s a soap opera signal if there ever was one. Remember when Adam and Chelsea first started embracing over Connor’s plight? Mmhmm.
It was with the aforementioned scenes that Young & Restless put Billy and Sally into play as a potential couple, ready to turn to each other to pick up the pieces after Adam and Chelsea’s cheating is revealed. Are you into it? Let us know in the comments.
