Victor Newman is on a mission, and while he typically gets what he wants under his own steam, it never hurts to have an ally. At least it won’t hurt him

While Victor was plotting the hostile takeover of Chancellor Industries, the man he once took under his wing and mentored was busy proposing to the Mustache’s daughter in the park. Abby immediately accepted and is set to become Devon’s wife, but there’s one little detail that the impulsive billionaire neglected to cover… asking her formidable father for his daughter’s hand in marriage. Probably a technicality given that Victor approves of the pairing, but one best attended to posthaste nonetheless.

That may be exactly what happens when Devon seeks Victor’s counsel, per Young & Restless spoilers. Alternatively, the Winters exec might approach his mentor for advice on how to best deal with a pesky and problematic former colleague, one that rubs them both the wrong way.

Yes, we mean Billy, aka, Billy Boy Abbott. After months of tension and in-fighting between Devon and Billy in the Chancellor-Winters sandbox, each of them finally took their toys and went home, taking their respective companies with them. One would think that would be the end of it, but Devon blames Billy for his sister Lily’s decision to stay on at Chancellor rather than join him at Winters… even though she explained it’s actually because Devon can’t play, er, work nicely with others.

Victor, meanwhile, knowing nothing of Jill’s heart condition, was miffed beyond all get-out to hear that she’d handed the reins of Chancellor over to her dysfunctional son, his loathed former son-in-law, Billy Boy. In a shocking announcement held in his office at Newman Enterprises, the Black Knight declared that he would take back his beloved friend Katherine’s former company and hand it to his wife Nikki to run, ousting Billy in the process.

Now, Victor typically gets what he wants… even if there are casualties and consequences for others along the way. We expect his takeover of Chancellor Industries will be no different. We also expect that there will be collateral damage.

Victor’s plot could play to Devon’s advantage, considering that Lily might be convinced to join him in running Winters after all if her dream team with Billy is broken up. Therefore, he may be persuaded to offer Victor inside information that might help him achieve his ends. Devon’s not typically one for underhanded tactics, but he’s already made an exception to that rule in Billy’s case when he schemed with Lily to dupe the over-confident Abbott. Perhaps he’s got a little Tucker in him after all.

While all of this remains to be seen, one thing is for certain: It would be a risk on Devon’s part. Why? If Lily finds out Devon and Victor have been putting their heads togehter and are making a run for Chancellor, it will set up an epic battle between the siblings who are already on the outs after her recent decision.

“But,” you may be thinking, “What if Lily doesn’t find out?” If Victor successfully upends Lily and Billy’s company and puts an end to their vision, Lily’s not gonna be happy about it even if Nikki offers to keep her on. Once she finds out (and she will because… soap opera) that Devon had a part in it, he can flat out forget about her joining him at Winters. Heck, she probably won’t even want to attend his wedding!

So, while Victor may find an ally in Devon in his plot to ruin Billy and take back Chancellor, it would not only set up an epic sibling battle between Lily and her brother, but it could destroy their relationship for good!
