General Hospital Monday, July 23 Recap: Ava Spills Placebo Shocker to Scott – Jason’s Awful Sonny Ultimatum
General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, July 23, reveals that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) was excited for Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) since they were all set to go on a father-son boat trip.
Unfortunately, John Cates (Adam J. Harrington) had other plans when he interrupted, so Jason was forced to reschedule – leaving Carly to take a disappointed Danny home.
In Jason’s room, John accused him of tipping off Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) since his house was empty by the time the FBI got there.
Jason denied that and said he’d done his part by supplying evidence to identify the head of Pikeman.
However, that wasn’t good enough for John, who warned that Jason was getting on a bus to Quantico tonight for a new assignment.
John explained that Jason would be given a new ID and that he’d helping to break up a drug ring being run out of a federal prison.
Since Jason wasn’t on board with that plan, John threatened to send Carly to Pentonville instead.
Jason didn’t want that either, so John warned him to supply proof to take Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) down if he wanted to stay in Port Charles.
John ranted about Sonny needing to pay, so Jason realized Pikeman had just been an excuse and that John was after Sonny all along.
Although Jason acted like he didn’t have any Sonny evidence, John insisted Jason knew where all the bodies were buried.
John felt that Jason had enough proof to put Sonny away until the end of time, so Jason could either give it to him or get on that bus to Quantico!
In Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) office, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) was upset over the FBI visit she got regarding missing Valentin and Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez).
Laura hoped that maybe Anna had heard from Valentin or that she had another way to get in touch since he was now unreachable along with Charlotte.
Anna played dumb about the whole situation, but she vowed to let Laura know if she heard anything.
Afterward on Monday’s GH episode, Carly showed up to grill Anna about what changed since Jason was supposed to free of the FBI’s control.
After Carly suspected this was about John’s revenge on Sonny, she warned that Jason wouldn’t turn on him.
Anna wanted to dig into things before Carly made any impulsive moves, but Carly decided it was a mistake to come to Anna.
This was between Carly and Jason as far as she was concerned, so she suggested they’d handle it and stomped off.
By the Quartermaine boathouse, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) told Blaze aka Allison “Allie” Rogers (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) and Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) that Perez Hilton agreed to their interview.
Unfortunately, Perez and his producer didn’t agree to stick to the list of questions that Kristina and Blaze provided, which meant they could face curveballs.
Although Blaze thought it was too risky, Brook Lynn settled her down and helped prepare her along with Kristina through a mock interview.
In Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) suite, Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) wasn’t impressed over Ava’s small list of character witnesses.
Ava threw out some other potential names and ultimately suggested calling Carly to the stand.
After Ava explained that Carly didn’t want Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears) spending the night at Sonny’s place, she added that Carly accused Sonny of going off his meds.
That led to Ava getting Scott’s reassurance about attorney-client privilege before admitting Sonny was taking placebos.
Ava insisted she didn’t know who was responsible for the swap, but she found out about it and had seen the ugly results first-hand.
Scott assumed Ava wanted him to push Sonny’s buttons in court, so Ava confirmed she wanted to cause a blowup and make everyone see he was out of control.
At Sonny’s penthouse, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) showed up after being summoned.
Sonny needed Michael to be a character witness and help with his custody fight for Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola).
Michael wasn’t so sure he was the best person to ask since he’d publicly clashed with Sonny lately – not to mention the problems in their history.
Once Michael rehashed some Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) drama and other Sonny-related incidents from his childhood, Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) admitted she had the same concerns.
Sonny flew into a rage and accused Michael of only being a good son when he needed something.
The rest of the time, Michael treated Sonny like something he was scrapping off the bottom of his shoe – at least according to Sonny.
Michael realized Sonny was acting like he wasn’t on his meds, but Sonny fired back that he was taking them and offered to let Michael check.
Once Michael refused to testify on behalf of this version of Sonny, he left in a huff.
Speaking as Sonny’s attorney, Diane warned him to get a grip or else she wouldn’t be able to convince a judge to side with him.
Our predictions hint that Sonny’s placebos will cause him to go even further off the rails, so we’ll bring you updates on the chaotic news ahead.
General Hospital spoilers say Sonny’s behavior will take some shocking turns, so stay tuned.
