General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco Shares a Glimpse of Her ‘Last Scene With the Davis Girls’: Exit ‘Still Doesn’t Make Any Sense to Me’
The end is near and growing nearer for long-running General Hospital heroine Sam. On October 6, portrayer Kelly Monaco shared a photo from the set with Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis), Kate Mansi (Kristina) and Kristen Vaganos (Molly). Its heart-tugging caption: “Last scene with the Davis girls.
“Still doesn’t make any sense to me,” she added in reference to her imminent exit and the grim fate that awaits her character.

It was at the end of August that the news broke that Monaco had been blindsided upon being let go by the soap she’s called home for more than 20 years. Since then, the actress, a veteran of General Hospital spinoff Port Charles, hasn’t had much to say on the subject. But earlier in the month, she replied to an Instagram poster, suggesting that in the wake of the late Billy Miller’s dismissal as Drew in 2019, “Sam’s storyline stopped.
Monaco further accused the powers that be of “stripping Sam of every characteristic she had. Something I worked for decades to build… Slowly dismantling her, into a character that I did not recognize, let alone the audience.
“Call it what you will,” she added. “Retaliation at it[s] finest. I will give a proper statement. The truth will set you free.”
Though General Hospital fans are up in arms about the tragedy that is about to befall Sam, their loss may well be another soap’s gain. Monaco will, after all, now be available to tackle a new role. When Port Charles was cancelled, she had her pick of parts, with current General Hospital EP Frank Valentini working hard to recruit her for One Life to Live, the show he was running at the time. She even had talks about joining All My Children in the role that was originated by an actress who is now, ironically, headed for General Hospital.
