Alas, poor Valentin, we knew him well. OK, maybe we’re writing him off a bit early, but after today’s episode, his chances of staying on General Hospital and in Port Charles seem as slim as it comes. Now, that’s not to say they’re going to kill him off, but at this point, there’s just no way left for him to get out of this.
As soon as Anna got her hands on the satellite phone that has all the information needed to bring both Pikeman and Valentin down, his fate was sealed. And she’s handed it over to Jason to give to John Cates — with a catch. Jason needs to buy her and Valentin time so that he’s got time to make his getaway with Charlotte.
Anna may be up for taking Pikeman down, but she still cares for Valentin and Charlotte (and the teen forgiving her for the shooting isn’t exactly helping her guilt) and wants them to be together. As Anna told Jason, Charlotte is all Valentin has. (Read the full recap here.)
Jason agreed to buy her time, but that’s all that’s happened. We’ve been worried for ages that Valentin has gone too far and done too much to come back from this. And now, we’re just down to two options: Valentin is hauled off to prison by John and the FBI or he and Charlotte make their getaway and run from Port Charles (and probably, the whole United States).
Either way, it seems that Valentin’s done and he’s going to be leaving our screens. Granted, there is a third option for him to get out of paying the piper, but it’s even worse than fleeing the country. Because if he doesn’t move fast enough and John catches up with him before leaving, then they could be forced in a confrontation that’ll leave Valentin dead.
Prison, he can someday get out of. Even going on the run could be temporary if he works out a way to curry favor with the authorities and get off the hook for his misdeeds. But death would be final. Well, as final as it ever is in Port Charles, but we’ll just say that’s a lot harder to come back from.
What are your thoughts? Has Valentin finally reached the end of his rope?
