Get the Goods On General Hospital’s New Big Bad
General Hospital just did something that it hasn’t in ages: It introduced a brand-new supervillain. But considering his poor health, we suppose we shouldn’t get attached to the evil-doer any more than he should make long-term plans. Poker-faced baddie Sidwell is played by Carlo Rota.
If the British-born Canadian actor looks familiar, it’s for good reason — about a million good reasons, as a matter of fact. His list of credits would go on for pages and pages if you tried to print it out. Rota has appeared in movies (like the Brian De Palma-directed sci-fi opus Mission to Mars, the fifth installment of the Saw franchise and the action-thriller Trigger Point), TV movies (including Trapped in a Purple Haze, which starred Lucky’s portrayer, Jonathan Jackson) and series such as Queer as Folk, La Femme Nikita and 24 (on which he recurred as Chloe’s husband, computer scientist Morris).
On General Hospital, Sidwell is being conned by the one and only Holly Sutton. Or is he, really? Would someone who is as good at knowing when someone is bluffing find himself being fooled by Emma Samms’ sly alter ego even if she does sparkle as brightly as the diamond that she seems to be after? To be determined.
