General Hospital

Goodbye, Port Charles… Hello, Salem? Days of Our Lives Would Be ‘Lucky’ to Get Kelly Monaco — Here’s Why

Unless your return address is “under a rock,” you’ve no doubt heard that Kelly Monaco’s days playing Sam on General Hospital are numbered. And while that’s terrible news of fans of ABC’s soap, it could be great news for viewers of Days of Our Lives, because it means not only that the actress will soon be available to tackle a new role but that she will be free to be re-paired with a former leading man.

If Peacock was smart, it would quickly get Monaco to sign on the dotted line to join the cast as Nicole’s sister Taylor (previously played by fellow General Hospital alumni Tamara Braun and Natalia Livingston). We know, we know… The character is all but cursed, seeing as Days of Our Lives never really seemed to know what to do with her. But with Monaco stepping in, the path would be clear.

You’ll recall that way back when, Taylor fell for Eric, much to her sibling rival’s chagrin. With Nicole now off the canvas, what an opportunity for Taylor to return to see if she stood a snowball’s chance of being with Eric. If she does, what with it being unlikely that Arianne Zucker will be back anytime soon, Monaco could throw sparks on screen again with Eric’s portrayer, Greg Vaughan, with whom she played out Sam and Lucky’s love affair on General Hospital.

If that doesn’t work, Days of Our Lives could bring Taylor back to Salem to see whether maybe, just maybe ex-lover EJ has changed for the better. The answer is “Not so much, he’s still a charming scoundrel.” But we could see Monaco clicking on screen beautifully with Dan Feuerriegel (who, let’s be real, is such a charisma machine, he could form a supercouple with a door).

What do you think? As Days of Our Lives moves forward with new headwriters, shouldn’t Salem make room for Monaco? On your way to the comments, check out the latest cast additions in the below photo gallery.
