Johnny Wactor’s killers may have just been caught. On August 15, search warrants were served and “multiple arrests” made in the case, according to TMZ.
The former General Hospital leading man, who played Brando Corbin from January 2020 until September 2022, was fatally shot in late May. While walking restaurant co-worker Anita Joy to her car after a late shift, the actor happened upon thieves attempting to steal his car’s catalytic converter.
Wactor initially believed that his vehicle was being towed, Joy explained. When it became clear that that wasn’t the case, he stepped in front of her to shield her from harm. “As I heard the shot ring into the night, he forcefully tumbled back into my arms,” she said, “and as I grabbed for him, I shouted, ‘Honey, you OK?’
“He only responded, ‘Nope! Shot!’ We toppled onto the street where I pushed my legs under him and tried to hold his body up while screaming for help and screaming at him to stay with me.”
Just days ago, Wactor’s friends and family held a press conference in which they pleaded with the public to assist in the investigation. Fingerprints found at the scene of the crime, TMZ says, helped the authorities zero in on the alleged gang members who are believed to be responsible for Wactor’s murder.
