General Hospital Totally Drops a Killer Plot… and What? Hopes That We Just Won’t Notice? (’Cause We Did!)

It’s been more than six months since General Hospital killed off Austin Gatlin-Holt and hinted at a thickening plot by following up the murder with a note to Ava Jerome that read, “You’re welcome.” And in that six months, we have come no closer than we ever were to finding out who did away with Roger Howarth’s third Port Charles character.

What gives? No freaking idea. It’s as if the show has forgotten that it wrote not one but two mysteries — who killed Austin, and who sent that note? — so it has made no effort to solve them. The thing is, we haven’t forgotten! We want answers, dang it!

Maybe the disappearing storyline — which admittedly wasn’t a fan favorite in the first place — is actually a stroke of genius. Maybe since General Hospital has spent the last few months trying to paint Ava as a remorseless villain who’s a cross between Hannibal Lecter and Attila the Hun — which is totally unfair, btw — it’s saving the reveal of the note-sender to spring her from her place on the hot seat.

AVA LIES GH

If Austin’s killer is someone powerful enough to get away with murder, he or she would be powerful enough to keep Ava from doing time for “pushing” Kristina to try to medal in hotel diving. He or she would even be powerful enough to stop Sonny from taking away Avery from her mother.

Who do you think sent the note? And do you think General Hospital will ever pick up this dropped plot? On your way to the comments, review some of soaps’ best-ever murder mysteries in the below photo gallery.
