In the Quartermaine kitchen, Drew enters, and Sasha gets him a cup of coffee. She can’t stop thinking about the kiss she witnessed between him and Willow last night. Drew warns her that he may need a few more as he’s dragging today. Sasha comments it was a big day, and his speech was inspiring.
Willow enters, and Sasha gets her some coffee as well. Sasha also made a bunch of beignets, which Wiley says are his new favorite. Sasha decides to go and check on Cody and talk about house stuff. She tells them to enjoy their morning.
Left alone, Willow is glad she ran into Drew. She needs to be clear that she loves Michael and that it was wrong for them to kiss. She says it’s not who she is. Drew calls it an accident, and he would never hurt Michael any more than she would. Willow says, “Too late, we already did.” Drew says it was impulsive, and one kiss doesn’t have to change anything.
Drew says they should put it behind them and move on, and every day, week and month that goes by, the memory will fade. Suddenly Michael enters having smelled the beignets. Michael starts talking work with Drew, so Willow excuses herself. Drew offers to take a look at the budget Michael’s drawn up.
After they go over the budget, Michael asks if Willow seems off to him. Drew is concerned, and asks if he means Willow is sick again, as she seemed fine to him. Michael says she’s not sick, and maybe he’s being over-sensitive. He worries every time she gets sick that the cancer has come back. Drew calls that a rational reaction and to give himself a break. Michael will try, but last night, she had so much trouble sleeping. However, if Drew thinks she’s fine, he’ll stop worrying. Michael heads out.
Sasha arrives at the stables and calls out to Cody. He appears shirtless. Sasha has something to tell him about last night. Cody stops her and blurts out that last night he told Mac that he was his son, it just came out. She asks how it went. Cody says he should have kept his mouth shut, and Mac is furious.
Cody explains he told Mac everything, and Mac feels betrayed. Sasha says he needs to give Mac time, and she’s proud of him. She thinks he must feel better with this weight off his chest. He feels like garbage, and he wants to get the hell out of town.
He walks out, and she follows and asks if she’s really leaving. He wants to, but Maxie threatened him not to leave. However, it’s not because of Maxie he’s staying, but her. Sasha tells him that he has to stop finding reasons to bolt as they are building something together.
Sasha kisses him, and warns him if he goes, she will hide Tracy’s secret cash box and tell her that he took it. She notes Tracy will have every cop in the state looking for him. She makes Cody promise to talk to her before he decides to go. He agrees, so she decides to get back up to the house as he has no idea what could be going on there.
Later, Willow arrives to check on the horses after the fireworks. Cody puts on a shirt and lets her know he made sure they’d be okay, and they are actually metalheads. Willow says sometimes fireworks can be so distracting. He gets her some coffee and asks if he missed a good time last night. Willow says the mood was nice, and people are upbeat about Drew’s run for Congress.
Cody asks if she’ll campaign for Drew. She doesn’t think she’s a savvy campaigner, but he just thinks getting the family involved will help Drew, and she’s one of the more appealing family members. He says Mama Q, Brook Lynn, and Chase also would be good for Drew’s immage. He’s glad Drew is running, and everyone wants to be part of a family, even when you feel you don’t deserve it. Willow knows how that feels, as Michael and Quartermaines have given her everything.
At Maxie’s, she and Felicia talk about Cody and Mac. They wonder what happened with Felicia’s DNA sample. Felicia says the lab she uses is the best, she’s used it many times before. Felicia knows Maxie has gotten to know Cody as a friend. Maxie says they all have, and he’s been wonderful. Felicia doesn’t want her to get angry when she says this, but why should they believe Cody now?
Maxie says she believes Cody, and he’s convinced Mac is his father. Felicia asks if Cody could be working an angle. Maxie says it’s not like they have money, and when she talked to Cody, she could see he was ready to bolt from his mistakes. She understands the feeling, and she had to threaten Cody into staying.
They head to Maxie’s living room, and Felicia is still having trouble believing Cody is Mac’s son given her DNA test results. Suddenly Sasha shows up and apologizes for dropping in like this. Sasha says this is important, and she knows Cody is Mac’s son. In fact, she’s known for months. They sit down, and Felicia reminds Sasha that she did a DNA test behind Cody’s back. Sasha confesses she saw Felicia take hair from Cody’s brush at the Home & Heart set, so she switched it out with her own sample. She hated lying to them, but she was hoping to give Cody time to tell the truth on his own.
Maxie doesn’t understand why Cody was reluctant to tell the truth as Mac is a great guy. Sasha says Cody knows that, and he has this thing about not being good enough. Maxie and Felicia accept her apology. Sasha asks what comes next as Cody says Mac is hurt and angry. Felicia says he is, and Sasha feels she made things worse in trying to help. Maxie tells her not to give herself a hard time, this all falls on Cody. Sasha says he’s devastated and talking about leaving Port Charles. Maxie threatened him in to staying, and Sasha says she did too. Felicia says Mac is devastated, and neither will approach the other as they share the same stubborn gene. Maxie asks what they’ll do about this.
Scott arrives at Ava’s room at the Metro Court, and she looks into the hall and makes sure Cates isn’t following or spying. Scott says he’s known John since high school, and he’s a good guy. Scott has brought Diane’s countersuit, and Sonny wants sole custody of Avery. Ava isn’t surprised, and Scott says the facts of this case bother him, including her living with Sonny for a while and Avery having been ping-ponged back and forth, which judges don’t like to see.
Ava states that’s why she wants Avery with her. Scott points out this is a motel room, where at Sonny’s, she has a routine and a stable home. Ava recalls him saying if Sonny had a public meltdown… Scott doubts that will happen during a custody battle as he isn’t that stupid.
Later, Ava heads to the hospital to see Sonny’s pharmacist. He says she can’t be here, and she has to leave as he has a staff meeting. She threatens to expose him for tampering with Sonny’s medications. The pharmacist knows she’s not Sonny’s wife. Ava counters that she knows he is filling his meds with a quarter of the dose. He swears he’ll fill the full prescription going forward, but she wants him to give him a one hundred percent placebo. She says if he doesn’t, she’ll tell Sonny what he’s doing. The pharmacist says this is dangerous and risky. Ava says it’s a risk she’s willing to take, and Sonny will get full placebos until she tells him to stop them. He agrees to take care of this for her. She thanks him and asks if anyone has come to ask about her. He says no, so she says if someone does, make up a story that she came for a consultation. She hopes he doesn’t do anything that will make her have to return.
Sonny drops off Avery with Carly, and thanks her for allowing her to come here and spend time with Donna. Sonny comments on how fast they are growing up. Sonny hopes with Ava gone that Carly may reconsider Donna spending nights with him. Suddenly the room grows cold when Jason arrives. Jason says hello, and Sonny says he has personal things to discuss with Carly. Carly tells Jason they are talking about the kids, and she says to Sonny she loves Avery and she is welcome here any time. Sonny says there is more. He reveals Ava has served him with custody papers over Avery, and Carly may be called to testify, given they share custody of Donna. He wants to know what she’d tell the judge as far as his suitability as a parent. He knows they’ve had problems but hopes she won’t go into court and say he’s a terrible father. Carly admits they’ve had problems, but if she’s going to trash anyone in court, it will be Ava.
Sonny goes to leave, but before he does, asks Jason if he and his FBI buddy found anything about him. Jason insists he’s not working against Sonny. Sonny hopes it stays that way and departs.
Alone, Carly begs Jason to tell Sonny the whole truth, and that he’s working with Cates to protect her. Jason says he can’t. He asks about Sonny’s meds. Carly says he’s taking them, but Jason feels something is off. She agrees, but for a moment this morning, it was as if he was the old Sonny.
Jason knows that changed when he walked in. Jason notes he can’t tell Sonny the truth yet, as he could go after Cates and kill him. He also asks what will happen to Donna and Avery if Sonny goes to prison. Carly gets it, especially since she may go to prison, too. He won’t let that happen, but she says it might not be up to him.
Sonny shows up at Ava’s motel room with her lawsuit in his hand. He says she called him emotionally unstable in it and that is garbage. Ava won’t talk to him when he’s like this. He sets his phone to record, saying he’s taking a page from her playbook. He then warns Ava not to do this, or he will bury her. He gloats that Scott is the only lawyer she can get, and Diane will destroy him. She says it’s not about the lawyers. It’s about the case. She says her defenseless mother and those are always favored by the court. She knows he’ll be in court, cool, calm, and stable untill someone says something to set him off.
Sonny says Diane will have twenty witnesses lined up to testify against her, but Ava asks, “What judge will give custody to a mobster who used to run a strip club?” She opens the door and orders Sonny to go home, listen to himself on that recording, and judge how suitable he sounds. Sonny refuses to leave. Just then, Cates shows up at the open door, asking if there is a problem here.
On the next General Hospital: Laura visits with Heather in Pentonville. Heather tells her, “You don’t want it to be put to the test.” Maxie asks Mac why he’s taking such a hard line with Cody. Felicia says to Cody, “You don’t want any part of the Scorpio-Jones family.” Ava lets Cates know that she knows how to discourage Sonny from returning. Sonny asks Alexis if she will support him.
