On today’s Days of Our Lives, Eric shows up at the high school looking for Holly, but finds Tate instead. Holly, the teen says, took off before the day ended. Sofia walks in just as he says Holly couldn’t wait to get away from him. He gets why she’s upset and apologizes for telling Holly about Eric’s drunk driving — Sofia overhears it all.

Eric suggests Tate give Holly space to process, then leaves to look for her himself. Afterwards, Sofia walks up and asks a wary Tate if he’s OK. She’s sorry to hear about his dad, but is glad that he was let go. He doesn’t deserve to lose his dad, like his mom. “At least you have Holly for moral support.” She smiles slightly when he responds, “If only.”

In EJ’s office, Holly offers to help find evidence against Brady, but EJ doesn’t think she can help after Kristen stole his car. “Tate’s dad’s just going to get away with this,” she says. “Isn’t he?” They both agree to do whatever they can to bring him to justice. But before she leaves, EJ asks why she’s so determined to prosecute Brady.

Aunt Sarah’s in a wheelchair and Brady’s facing zero consequences. That’s not fair, especially after what Eric got away with. She knows what happened. EJ says he’s so sorry, and he pleaded with Nicole to tell her. But she wouldn’t listen. He then mentions he got divorce papers from Nicole and he’s off balance. He doesn’t want to turn Holly against her mom.

“Too late for that.” Nicole left Holly to go live halfway across the world with her new family. No one gets between Nicole and Eric. EJ gets it, but… What he did with Jude was indefensible. And it affected Holly as much as Jude’s parents. He’s “terribly sorry.” It did, but she knows he was head over heels in love with her mom. And Holly doesn’t know if she’d be there if EJ hadn’t gotten her treatment while in her coma.

EJ says that legally she may not be his daughter, but he’ll always care for her. She believes him, then goes off on how little time Eric spent in prison. EJ promises he’ll do his very best for Sarah and tells Holly he’s very proud of her. They hug.

Over at the Basic Black offices, Kristen warns Brady that EJ knows she took his car. EJ tried to get her to flip, but she called her brother’s bluff. Brady wants her to go back and tell EJ the truth. “You can’t be serious, Brady!” She refuses, but Brady says it’ll all be over once Sarah remembers him under hypnosis. Kristen tells him to think about Tate and Rachel, but Brady throws back at her that she fought for full custody and never lets him see her. “Actually… I think we need to do something about that.”

She wants Rachel to know her dad will always be in her life, flashing back to EJ telling her she’s still in love with Brady. She demands Brady say he won’t give up on his future or Rachel’s.

Marlena guides Sarah in hypnosis in her office. Sarah sees herself walking that night, hears the car screeching and sees… a gray car. But no Brady. She can’t make out the face through the glare. She looks closer. “I know who it is.”

Xander paces in the hospital as he waits for Sarah’s hypnosis, but Fiona says maybe it’s best Sarah doesn’t remember and has to relive that night. “She will.” Fiona warns him not to be disappointed if hypnosis doesn’t work, but also asks if he considered the possibility Brady wasn’t the driver.

Xander doesn’t believe it, but Fiona sighs. She was hoping Brady’s case being dropped would be easier — no trial, no reliving what happened. They could just move forward. Plus, neither of them have “led a life of virtue” but everyone deserves a second chance, right? She tears up as she talks about the one she got from Xander. “I just can’t bear the thought of leaving it all behind,” she sobs.

Xander reassures her, telling her she’s been a godsend. She’s got something to tell him, though. But before she can say something, Sarah comes out. She says she saw someone she knows behind the wheel, but just can’t make out the face. She just wants to go home. By herself.

Fiona says she’s sorry after Sarah’s gone and tells Xander she didn’t actually have anything important to tell him. He checks his phone and says something came up at Titan that’s urgent. “This is a matter only I can handle.”

Days' Kristen hands Marlena a piece of paper as the doctor sits at her desk in her office

Marlena is taking notes about Sarah when Kristen shows up at her office. She invites Marlena and John to Grandparents’ Day at Rachel’s school. She then tells Marlena that she wants to revisit her and Brady’s custody arrangement. Rachel’s getting older and the time she spends with Brady has been going very well. And Kristen’s tired of being the bad guy.

Marlena questions her feelings towards Brady, though. Kristen admits her feelings for Brady have bounced between love and hatred. She’s tried to get over him, but she probably never will. “Well thank you for all that.” Marlena notes wryly. And tell Rachel that she and John will be there for her.

Fiona wheels Sarah into the Kiriakis living room and offers to clean up the party while Sarah rests. She’s inspired by how Sarah “radiates positivity in the face of adversity.” Sarah thanks her and goes to lie down, leaving Fiona to tidy up. She realizes almost immediately the bat is gone. “Oh… no. No, no, no, no, no.”

Xander lets himself into the Basic Black offices, telling Brady Sarah couldn’t remember who mowed her down. Brady knows he’s probably there to fire him, but he just finished his letter of resignation. Xander reaches outside and grabs the bat, telling Brady he’s going to put him in a wheelchair now, too. Xander sent Brady’s staff home, so yell all he wants.

Brady’s resigned to what’s to come and Xander barks at him not to play the martyr. “This is for every tear that she wiped away when she thought no one was looking.” He starts smashing up the office then tells Brady he’s going to be a human pinata. Just before he strikes, Fiona shows up and yells at him to stop.

Eric shows up at the mansion, looking for Holly. He finds Sarah instead, who offers to tell Holly he stopped by. She realizes he’s there to support Brady. “I’m sorry, Sarah. I’m terribly sorry.” They then talk about Victoria’s birthday and Sarah notes they both have their happily ever afters and happy families. She’s adjusting to the situation now, but there’s still a lot of blessings. They hug.

In the show’s final moments, Fiona tells Xander he can’t hurt Brady. He’ll go to prison and he has a wife and daughter who need him. “I’ll just get a good lawyer.” Xander starts to swing as Brady tells Fiona to just go. Instead, she rushes up behind and grabs Xander, in tears, saying she has a confession to make. They both look at her confused.
