Rip Wheeler, is that you? Why, no, it’s Bryan R. Dattilo. On August 7, the Days of Our Lives veteran, who’s played Lucas Roberts Horton off and on since 1993, posted to Instagram a photo in which he looks like the latest addition to the cast of Paramount Network’s Yellowstone. What gives? Was he about to start mixing it up with the Duttons instead of the DiMeras?
Nah. “Just completed a fitting for a film,” the actor said by way of explaining why he was dressed to ride off into the sunset. “Always wanted to do a Western.”
Immediately, Dattilo’s Days of Our Lives family let loose with the yeehaws. Among those who giddy-upped to cheer on their co-star was longtime leading lady Alison Sweeney, who just booked her first return in two years as Lucas’ on-again/off-again love, Sami Brady. The cowboy hat, etc., “looks good on you!”
Speaking of Sweeney, her Days of Our Lives comeback could lead to some singularly juicy material for Dattilo. To put it mildly, there’s unfinished business between Sami and Lucas. Their 2022 attempt to remarry was, you’ll recall, thwarted when Chad DiMera interrupted the ceremony to reveal that it was the groom who’d been responsible for the bride’s kidnapping.
Oh, and Chad added, Lucas might have killed Abigail, too!
