Sean Kanan knows what it’s like to be the bad boy of daytime after years of playing Deacon Sharpe, who’s now on a redemption arc on The Bold and the Beautiful. In real life, he’s been happily married to his wife, Michele Kanan, for 12 years, and together, they’ve co-authored a book on how to have a thriving relationship in today’s fast-paced world, Way of the Cobra Couples.

The book is the third in a series that Sean has authored, but this time, Michele is chiming in with a female perspective on how to navigate the ups and downs of love with the acronym, COBRA: Character, Optimization, Balance, Respect and Abundance. In Soaps.com’s recent interview with the dynamic duo, their sweet and playful relationship was on full display, and it was the perfect opportunity to get their input on the iconic soap couples who could benefit most from their COBRA advice — and we got the most delicious answers from them!

Sean ponders, “Ooo…”

Michele jumps right in, “I think Victor and Nikki.”

“That’s so funny you say that,” he banters back. “I was thinking of them!”

“Because they really are a great couple. When they’re on, they’re on, they’re really a great couple,” Michele adds. “But then, you know, something silly gets in the way.”

Victor Nikki

Victor and Nikki’s love is one of the most enduring in daytime television, but they have certainly had their struggles, from business challenges to infidelity, and even Nikki’s alcoholism. That’s why Sean offers some sage advice to the passionate couple. “Trust your partner,” he suggests. “You don’t have to control everything; you’re stronger as a team than by yourself.”

But Sean isn’t done, he has more insight to offer, and it involves Deacon, who has seen significant growth as a person over the years. “You know what? I was going to turn your question inside out and say, of all the couples that I can think of on daytime, believe it or not, Sheila and Deacon seem to have one of the healthiest relationships there is,” he shares. “I mean, she’s crazy and he certainly is a special boy, but, at least for now, they have a more sane and healthy marriage than pretty much anyone else that I can think of.”

Michele then thinks about other Bold and Beautiful romances, and this is where we get to watch the Kanans’ fun-loving relationship at work, “I think Brooke and Ridge have a pretty sturdy relationship,” she says.

“But she’s been married 11 times! What are you talking about? She’s been married to what, all the Forresters?” Sean laughs.

“Sounds very judgy,” she quips.

“I would not say that Ridge and Brooke have a steady relationship. I would say they have a passionate relationship,” he concludes with a smile.

The lively conversation about fictional characters in Genoa City and Los Angeles — which you can watch in its entirety above — reveals just how spirited Sean and Michele’s marriage is behind the scenes. That little moment in the interview showed just what makes them a great team in real life — a true “cobra couple.”
