As glad as we were to know that we’d never again hear “H-O-T-T,” we were also sad when The Bold and the Beautiful had its newly minted killer send Tom to the hereafter. And we were bummed when the villain’s subsequent victim turned out to be Hollis, the rare character who didn’t have any relatives on the canvas and, therefore, couldn’t wind up dating his stepcousin once removed. But the show’s next casualty? Yikes. This one’s gonna hurt.
How can we be so sure? For a murder mystery to be impactful, someone about whom we really, truly, deeply care has to be offed. So before Deputy Chief Baker cracks the case, a major character has to meet their maker. But which one? Brace yourselves. Below are the likeliest candidates to go from wearing Forrester originals to… a toe tag.
Katie
As suspicious as she is of Poppy, we know that Bill’s ex-wife is going to be playing detective. If she gets too close to the truth that Luna’s mother has been trying so desperately to keep under wraps, Katie could easily go the way of Tom (who asserted that he was Poppy’s babydaddy) and Hollis (who got a gander at those old love letters).
Whether the killer is, in fact, Poppy, someone doesn’t want any more questions being asked about Luna’s paternity. That individual would obviously be motivated to tell Katie “asked and answered” with unusual finality. And the fallout would be epic, for the Logan sisters, for Bill, for their soon-to-be-SORAS’d son, Will…
Deacon
It would only be natural for Il Giardino’s proprietor to want to solve the mystery of his friends’ untimely demises. But the closer he gets to figuring out the killer’s identity, the greater the killer’s motivation to nip his investigation in the bud. And, were Deacon to have served his last pizza, all hell would break loose.
Hope, in her grief, could decide, “To hell with it! Life is short!” and throw herself at Finn. Before he knew what he was doing — a very real possibility where Dr. Dim Bumb is concerned — he’d be comforting her horizontally, in so doing demolishing his marriage to Steffy. And Sheila… Deacon’s widow would go on a warpath the likes of which we’ve never seen! That is, unless the next victim instead is…
Sheila
Wouldn’t it be ironic if, after Sheila shot Steffy, Finn, Taylor, Brooke, Stephanie and more, she wound up falling prey to foul play? Sheila could be puttering around the restaurant, arranging breadsticks and humming, “I’ve changed, I’ve changed,” when she happens upon a clue that forces the killer to strike again.
For once, Sheila would be minding her own business, and she’d still wind up at the center of a crime — just this time as the victim. Deacon could look at the unfairness of it all and decide, “Why bother being good?” and revert to his wicked ways — starting with leaning on Brooke for “consoling.” Finn, unable to mourn while Steffy dances on Sheila’s grave, would take off for a while — with Hope hot on his trail. And Sheila’s other kids could make their way to L.A. in hopes of getting a share of the untold wealth she once bragged that she possessed.
