Days of Our Lives’ Crystal Chappell Reveals Her Leading-Man Husband’s Diagnosis as Well as How He’s Doing

Everybody but everybody knows Crystal Chappell and Michael Sabatino, the real-life soap supercouple that met when they were cast by Days of Our Lives as Carly Manning and Lawrence Alamain in the early 1990s. Their relationship could rival that of any on-screen couple. Heck, Sabatino recalled their introduction thusly during an appearance on The Locher Room: The first time he saw Chappell, “I was like, ‘Who is that? I would love to meet this person.’”

When he was introduced to his leading lady — just on-screen at first — Chappell told Soapography, “I just knew there was something really special about the connection that we had. I remember thinking, ‘This could be trouble.’” Of the best kind. The twosome have been married since 1997 and have two kids.

More recently, Chappell, who has also starred on Guiding Light (where she won a Daytime Emmy for playing Olivia), One Life to Live (as Maggie) and The Bold and the Beautiful (as Dani), disclosed via X that “Michael has Parkinson’s,” the neurological disease that can affect both the motor and non-motor systems of the body.

But there is no reason to worry, the actress hastened to add. “He’s just fine, folks. We feel blessed and ready for tomorrow. Meanwhile, to quote him, he makes a ‘fine’ martini with that right hand… ” Shaken, not stirred, all the way!
