General Hospital’s Martin May Be Bound for a Romance With the Last Character He Expected: Michael E. Knight Even Has a Crush On Her Portrayer!
Michael E. Knight didn’t know it at the time, but September 30, 2019, marked a turning point in his career. When he made his General Hospital debut as Martin Grey, he expected it to be just a short-term gig, a favor from executive producer Frank Valentini to help him make his work requirement to remain insured. Instead, the character was given deep family ties — does it get any better than having Laura Collins as a half sister? — a romance with Lucy Coe and an ex-wife in One Life to Live hellcat Blair Cramer.
Now, as Martin tries to prevent Alexis from being convicted of Cates’ murder, his Emmy-winning portrayer could be looking at another major on-screen relationship — with his client. It’s all business for the moment, sure. But that’s to be expected when life in prison (or worse) is at stake. Once the dust settles and Alexis is exonerated, she may come to see her lawyer through new eyes, ones that appreciate his handsomeness as well as his shrewdness.
If so, that would be both fine and dandy by Knight, who is thoroughly enjoying working with Nancy Lee Grahn. In fact, “I’ve got a crush on Nancy,” he tells Soap Opera Digest. “I mean, how lucky am I? Nancy has forgotten more about doing daytime than most people will ever know. I love her…
“She’s like playing handball against the wall,” he adds. “It doesn’t matter what you hit, it’s going to come back to you.”
