After hanging up with EJ, Johnny assures Chanel that the fire chief has deemed the mansion habitable and notes some of EJ’s favorite vintage wines will have to be restocked. Talk of wine leads to reminiscing about their Italian wedding, which leads to kissing. However, Chanel needs rest since she’s shooting her first scenes tomorrow with Alex, who she rolls her eyes over.
In the Square, Bonnie gets excited over being on the same show as her stepson Alex and that they’re playing mother and son. She likens them to old Hollywood families. She just hopes Justin is renegotiating Alex’s contract like he’s doing for her. Alex points out that the show is on a tight budget, but Bonnie is confident the show is flush.
At Body and Soul, Justin stands over Kate as she peruses documents. He states Bonnie is looking for an extra vacation week and 25 percent over scale. Kate states either Bonnie accepts the original terms or the show will find another actress to play Cassandra.
Abe comes to Stephanie’s apartment. Eric has offered to take promotional cast photos pro bono, and the shoot is scheduled for tonight. Stephanie suggests she start wrangling the actors.
Hattie comes to Leo’s Salem Inn room with a stack of scripts. Bonnie’s character has too many scenes, which need to be rewritten. Leo wants Hattie to be happy, but he can’t just rewrite scripts on a whim without approval. Hattie retorts that Bonnie’s been making her own script changes. She urges him to make her changes to ensure the relaunch is a hit. Leo will see what he can do but can’t make any promises.
In the Square, Bonnie performs a few lines (which she changed a little) for Alex. He’s impressed by her acting abilities and then worries about working with Chanel. Bonnie suggests he channel their tension into their scenes. Justin shows up to relay that Kate wouldn’t budge on Bonnie’s contract. Though disappointed, Bonnie couldn’t imagine walking away from the character of Cassandra. Hattie appears with changes in the scripts that disparage Cassandra. Bonnie demands to know who made the changes. Stammering, Hattie declares it was Leo, who shows up. As Bonnie yells at Leo, the actors get messages about the photo shoot. The trio starts to leave, but Leo stops Hattie who tries to avoid him. He can’t believe she threw him under the bus after the favors he did for her. “That’s show biz, baby,” she says. Plus, “It’s always the writer that takes the blame.”
Johnny and Chanel canoodle at the mansion as he reminds her how everything worked out for the best after the whole Alex/Allie thing. They receive email alerts about last-minute script changes for Chanel’s and Alex’s characters. “Faith and Arrow have sex?!” Chanel exclaims. They thought the characters weren’t supposed to consummate their relationship for months. Chanel can’t believe she has to have a love scene right off the bat. Johnny can’t believe he has to direct it. Chanel receives a message about the photo shoot.
As Eric sets up his equipment at Body and Soul, Hattie and Bonnie arrive. Bonnie wants to talk to Kate about Leo’s rewrites, but Hattie interrupts to say they need to get changed for the shoot. She anxiously watches as Stephanie ushers Bonnie out. When the women return from wardrobe, they discover they’re wearing identical sparkly blue gowns. Their argument over who should change turns physical.
Abe encounters Justin in the Square. He’s sorry about the contract negotiations, but they don’t have the money. When the show gets on the air and becomes a hit, they can revisit it.
Johnny comes to Leo’s Salem Inn room, requesting he change Alex and Chanel’s love scene because it’s too soon. Leo refuses. Later, Leo lounges in his silk pajamas as Bonnie angrily pounds on his door. Still wearing the blue dress from the photo shoot, she threatens to quit if he doesn’t rescind the script changes.
Hattie waddles to Abe in the Square wearing her photoshoot gown. She orders him to fire Bonnie. “It’s her or me.”
At the photo shoot, Chanel poses in a summer baby doll dress. Alex shows up wearing a black leather jacket over his bare chest. They stiffly pose together until Eric instructs Alex to put an arm around Chanel. They quietly confer over their unexpected love scenes as Eric directs them to stare into each other’s eyes. Kate tells Alex to lose the jacket and for Chanel to touch his chest. Johnny strolls in, caught off guard by their closeness.
Next on Days of Our Lives, Sophia gets closer to Tate, and Fiona gets honest with Maggie.
