Young & Restless’ Resurrection of Hilary Is *Just* the Thing to Blow Up ‘Dabby’: ‘She Was Faking Her Death’

This past week marked the fifth anniversary of Mishael Morgan’s return to The Young and the Restless in the new role of ill-fated Hilary Curtis’ surprise twin, Amanda Sinclair. It also led us to the perfect time for the Daytime Emmy winner to make another comeback — but this go-round as both Amanda and Hilary.

Hear us out. We know that Bryton James and Melissa Ordway love working together. And hey, we love knowing how much they enjoy going to the office. But a couple without conflict is a couple that’s backburner-bound. (Just ask Kevin and Chloe!) So our wedding present to the betrothed duo is a proposed storyline in which Morgan reveals that rumors of Hilary’s death have been greatly exaggerated.

It’s not out of question. As the fan favorite previously told Soaps.com, “Young & Restless is always on my radar.” What’s more, she wasn’t about to lay any flowers on Hilary’s grave. “She totally survived,” she insisted. “She was just faking her death… or someone else faked her death for some reason or other and then whisked her away from the hospital without Devon knowing.”

That is the sort of thing that happens in Genoa City. If Hilary was suddenly back in the picture, Abby would be forced to second-guess Devon’s commitment to her. For that matter, he’d be forced to second-guess his commitment to his fiancée. Would he stick with his best friend and coparent or be drawn back to the woman he never would have left in the first place?

But wait, there’s more. This storyline would also give Morgan a chance to play Hilary opposite Amanda, who would naturally race back to Genoa City to meet her lookalike sister. It would be the acting challenge of a lifetime as she got to focus on the nuances that distinguish one twin from the other. On top of that, Amanda would come home with a secret: While she was off screen, she had Devon’s baby.

Er, why would Amanda not have mentioned that before now? As she explains to Hilary, she has no intention of raising the child with him and certainly doesn’t want to be tied to the two-timer for life. But Hilary, looking for extra leverage to break up “Dabby,” lets slip to Devon that Dominic has a half sibling. When the fit hits the shan, with whom would the tycoon be left standing? Would his relationship with Abby survive? Would he try to guilt Amanda into reuniting? Or would Hilary’s plan work perfectly and pave the way for “Hevon” to come together anew?
